Dental Bonding

What is Dental Bonding?

Bonding is a type of cosmetic procedure that is performed to perfect the look of your smile. If your front teeth are chipped, cracked or unevenly spaced, we can place composite resin material over the area for a flawless, finished look. Bonding is durable and is made to blend seamlessly with the rest of your smile.

Why would Dental Bonding be needed?

The reason dental bonding may be needed is because your front teeth are chipped, cracked, discolored, uneven or have gaps and spaces between them. Rather than choose a more expensive and invasive treatment option, bonding works specifically on the problem. This helps to improve the look of your smile with little to no anesthetic involved. The materials used to bond teeth are safe, effective and durable.

Who is a candidate for Dental Bonding?

With a simple dental exam, we can help in determining if bonding is right for you. Older bonding can be easily replaced in our office. Bonding is ideal for most patients who have minor cosmetic problems at the front of their smile. This cosmetic option is ideal for those who are looking for a more noninvasive way to change their look.

What can be expected during the procedure for Dental Bonding?

We will file and slightly buff the tooth that will be receiving the bonding. We then carefully match the composite resin material to your smile. The material is placed over the tooth and smoothed out. We detail the way that the composite looks so that it appears as natural as possible. The composite is then cured and hardened into place, which prevents it from moving or shifting. You can expect your brand new bonding to last for about 10 years with the proper care and oral hygiene. You can brush and floss around your bonding as you would your natural teeth.
